Drop Your Drawers @
YOUR Rowan County Public Library
Make your next visit to the Library a brief one, for a good cause, as part of your Rowan County Public Library’s Drop Your Drawers campaign.
Drop off packages of new underwear for boys and girls, preferably sizes 4-16, from November 1 through December 31, at the Library or with the Rowan County Bookmobile. Donations will help replenish Rowan County elementary schools’ supplies of emergency underpants and provide direct assistance to each school’s Family Resource Center.
The need is great. Schools are handing out many pairs a month to children who need clean underwear due to accidents at school or issues at home. Because parents often are unable to bring fresh underwear to their children during school hours, children can miss valuable learning time in the classroom.
The Library’s goal is to receive at least 500 pairs. Underwear will be distributed evenly to the elementary schools in Rowan County: Clearfield, McBrayer, Rodburn, and Tilden Hogge.
The Drop Your Drawers campaign is easily recognizable by the popular character of Captain Underpants by author and illustrator Dav Pilkey.
The library’s collection of Captain Underpants children’s books will be on display (and available for check out) during the Drop Your Drawers campaign. By all means, stay awhile and enjoy the library’s many services. (The Library doesn’t really want you to make your visit brief!) For more information about the campaign, visit www.rowancountylibrary.org.
Underwear may be dropped off at Rowan County Public Library at 175 Beacon Hill Drive or to the Bookmobile driver.
